Christopher Coakley
We started working with Chris in June 2003. He completed the LEAP course which supported him to think about different options and opportunities for him.
He had some experience of working before as a gardener, but decided to move into a different area after working together with his peer group, and with support from members of staff at Hackney Recruitment Partnership.
He started on a voluntary placement in an office in Whitechapel in November, and has been successfully working there one day a week.
His manager has commented that Chris is very motivated and a hard worker.
He has also been supported by HRP to access an NVQ Level 1 in Administration, and his placement with ELSHN supports him in his course work.
He is successfully gaining experience for his long term goal of working as a receptionist, by completing duties such as putting together publicity packs/application forms for future volunteers; photocopying; and filing.
