We believe that to achieve success in employment, you need to invest time in people and employers. By focusing on an individual's skills and preferences and by understanding the employer's needs, we can get a good job match.
Referral. Applicants usually come to us by process of referral. A referral form is completed by a Care Manager and other professionals OR applicants can refer themselves by filling in a self referral form. To receive a service from us, applicants must have a learning difficulty and be a Hackney resident.
Initial Interview. All applicants interested in work are given an initial interview. This enables us to find out what they have done in the past, what they are doing now and what job they would like to do.
Advice and Guidance. We provide one to one appointments to discuss short and long-term goals, provide career information and to speak about training options.
Plans and Reviews. We write an employment plan with our service users, which identifies the goals, the route to achieve them and timescales. When someone is in a work placement or paid employment, reviews are arranged regularly to ensure the long-term success.
Assessment. We make an objective assessment of an individual’s skills from observation in meetings and in the workplace. We gather all observations to create a profile of the person’s skills, learning style and support needs. Meetings are also used to measure positive indicators that someone is work ready.
Job Preparation. We provide help with C.V.s, job search, filling in application forms and interview practice.
Working with Employers. We visit potential employers to obtain a detailed job description and an understanding of how the company works.
Job Matching. This enables us to place the right person in the right job. Our aim is to achieve an ideal job-match and not just secure a job placement.
Job Coaching. We provide one to one job coaching to the employee in the workplace at the start of their employment. At an appropriate time this gradually fades out but we always remain in contact to monitor progress and provide support if required.
Disability Awareness Advice. We can advise employers how to make reasonable adjustments in the workplace for people with disabilities.
