SUPPORTED EMPLOYMENT

WHAT IS IT?

A way for people with disabilities to be successful in ordinary, paid employment. It makes equal opportunities a reality for people with learning difficulties and enables employers to successfully employ disabled people.

For a long time people with disabilities have found it very difficult to get and keep jobs because of employers' preconceptions or prejudices. They have been denied the fair treatment to which they are entitled - everybody has the right to contribute, through work, to society if they can do so. It helps us to participate in the community, enables individual development, enhances self esteem, employers that can see the benefits of a diverse workplace can make an enormous difference to society.
